The Moncur Aberdeen Angus Herd was founded in 1992 by Mark Taylor. Netherton Frances was purchased for his 18^th birthday for 4,500 gns. In the following year another 3 Aberdeen Angus Heifers were purchased. These 4 animals were the foundation females of the Moncur Herd. One heifer, Edwina 2^nd of Monkwood, purchased at the Monkwood Dispersal Sale was a granddaughter of Newhouse Edwina 112^th a cow from Marks Grandfather’s Herd at Newhouse of Glamis. Top quality bulls and semen have been used on this herd from the outset and the total herd now numbers some 56 animals.

The Taylor Family have farmed in the Carse of Gowrie in Perthshire for four generations, since 1927. Their farming enterprises include growing potatoes and cereals and breeding pure Aberdeen Angus Cattle.

In 1986 as part of a farm diversification exercise for the Taylor family, Taypack Potatoes Ltd www.taypack.com was set up as a small potato trading concern. Today Taypack is a major fresh potato packing business which supplies UK and European retail and wholesale customers. It employs over 200 people and has an annual throughput of 150,000 tonnes of fresh potatoes. Taypack is a progressive and innovative company which prides itself with being a leader in technological innovation and product development.
